The parish church of St James the Great with the adjacent village hall, also a Grade II* listed building, is situated within the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. An information point is installed inside the church, which is open daily and is a popular starting place for walkers, and tea and coffee making facilities are available.
The present church is of Norman and medieval construction, although there are indications of Christian worship on the site in Saxon times. The lych-gate is partly sixteenth century, the font is dated 1722 and six of the eight bells were cast in 1724.
The building was restored and extended in the late nineteenth century by Sir George Gilbert Scott. The church clock is a memorial to those who died in World War I.
The parish registers date from 1560, and an audit of memorials and tombstones was carried out in 2000. The visitor interested in local and family history will find a wealth of information in the heritage centre in the village hall.
Access from the A4103 Worcester/Hereford road via the village centre (taking the lane opposite Millbank Garages) is easier than from the B4220 Bosbury road.
