Yatton Chapel

The simplicity of this tiny church and its farmyard setting convey a strong sense of the remote and the romantic. This is reinforced by the 12th century tympanum over the south door and the gradually eroding shafts below, together with the agricultural floor and the largely unplastered walls. Of the two fonts only the more damaged one is original to the church – the other one came from the disused church of Brobury (now a private house).Remains of the screen have been reassembled in Yatton’s ‘new’ church, some ½ mile to the east.
